The Gift of Year

Another year has gone by

Another year with memories to share

Another year ahead where we get to laugh instead of getting to cry

Another year to realize that what each of us has is rare

Each year we live and we learn

Each year we try to grow

Each year we try to go with every turn

Each year we learn from what we already know

This year I learned to be me

This year I tried letting go

This year I opened my eyes and tried to see

Learn from everyone how to grow

Each year lived is a gift

Every year we learn a little more

Each year our perceptions shift

And we learn things that stick to our very core

Each year, we get older and wiser

Each year, we gain new ideas and friends

Each year of life is an advisor

Who guides us through the bends

Each year we get older

We learn to be ourselves

Each year we can be bolder

And throw the trash off our shelves

I'm grateful for family and friends

Those who stood by me when I'd laugh or cry

I'm grateful to those who helped be around the bends

And told me it's okay to cry until the tears run dry

I'm grateful to have learned to be grateful

This year I definitely had a ton to learn

I'm grateful that I've had people who helped be pull

Who were with me through every turn

We live, we laugh,cry and learn
