Nobody said life would be simple and easy

Or that it would be calm and breezy

But it’s the difficult and hard things we face

That makes life worth wearing both chains and lace

No one ever said it would always work out

Or that there would never be a moment of doubt

But that’s what makes a life strong

That what makes people stand up to what’s wrong

It might not be simple and easy

It might not always be breezy

But one needs to live life despite it all

And never let any of it make one fall

Lord knows that it’s the difficult and hard things we face

That makes life worth wearing both chains and lace

That no matter what make come this way

There’s always the hope of a brighter day

Despite the fact that nobody said life would be simple and easy

Or that it would be calm and breezy

We keep marching on

And welcome the new day, the new dawn

Life might be complex

But we aren’t stuck in Oedipus Rex

So we aren’t as doomed as we think

And despite it all we shall not sink.
