September 10. 2011: Ten years later

Ten years ago

Our lives changed in a second

We didn’t know that we’d grow

And we’d be a force to be with whom to be reckoned

Ten years ago our world was shattered

We thought we’d never get through it

We were a nation battered

But now we’ll be a nation that’s fit

In ten years we killed Sadaam and Osama for safety

We’ve had time to grow

Even as we conquered biosafety

And we continue learning more than we know

We’re a nation standing strong

After ten years we’re still here

The extremists were wrong

And we aren’t a pawn or puppeteer

After ten years and the pain

We’re are still standing tall

We won’t be a nation slain

We shall never fall
