September 11. 2011: An Ode to New York

I live in a city so strong
People were wrong
If they thought we’d fall
But we’re a city standing tall

A city where dreams can come true
Where you can achieve all you want to do
Ride in a cab or in the subway and walk in the park
Or find a place where you’re safe after dark

A city where if I make it here
I know I’ll make it anywhere
This is the Empire State
Where people juggle more than what’s on their plate

This is a place where you can trot
Or take in your favorite spot
Ten years, a tragedy hit
And we fought and didn’t sit

This is New York
We have torque
Everyone can fulfill their every dream
While sitting in the Park eating ice cream

We live in the strongest town around
We have our own rhythm and sound
It’s called the New York beat
And succeeding and living here is a great feat
