To my parents

You helped me up when I was down
You taught me to swim so I’d never drown
Even when I felt like everything was going wrong
You told me I’d be okay because I am strong

You love me day and night
Even when we fight
I know you’ll always be by my side
That in you I can always confide

When I am sick you try to make me laugh
You try to make my stress be cut in half
When I make I mistake
You tell me to watch every step I take

Through this rollercoaster that is my life
Even when you’ve been the cause of my strife
You let me come to you and cry
And tell me you’ll be here even after the tears dry

I was blessed with parents who always will love me
Who see past what anybody else can see
Who would fight for me so I’d be okay
So that I’d be happy every day

Not every person has parents who care
Not everyone has somebody to run to when they feel despair
So when I’m happy, sad, angry or stressed
With you two I know I was blessed

Because I can tell you everything
And you’ll try to push away every hurtful thing
You’ll try and protect me from it all
And will always be there when I fall
